Gilad Atzmon is one of the UK’s finest jazz saxophonists, so it is an absolute honour to welcome him to Stroud Jazz Sessions! He has been in the top cadre of jazz musicians for about 15 years now, playing everywhere, receiving great critical acclaim, and winning the 2003 BBC Jazz Album of the Year.
Gilad plays fantastic, intelligent, powerful, muscular bebop which sings out more sweetly than almost anyone. His style is both uncompromisingly frenetic and breathtakingly elegiac, and weaves in his Middle Eastern and African influences with mainstream bop and a pinch of free. The night will include performances by Gilad and an energeti-frenetic open jam session until midnight, all in the gorgeous Stroud Valleys Artspace which will surely be packed and buzzing from floor to rafter! Advance tickets are recommended.
